A veneer is a conservative
treatment used to close spaces between teeth, to straighten teeth, to mask
discolouration of teeth caused by filling / tetracycline stains, to repair
broken, chipped or worn teeth and to brighten teeth.
- Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic material bonded tenaciously to
the front of teeth.'
- They could be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of your front teeth into an esthetically pleasing natural smile
- Unsurpassed by other restorative treatment options.
- They are an excellent alternative to crowns or fillings in many situations.
- They are highly resistant to permanent staining from tea, coffee, even cigarette smoking.
- They provide a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color, size, shape or position.
- Generally, veneers will last for many years when properly performed.
Patients shall require
several visits for the entire procedure, starting from diagnosis and treatment
planning, preparation, and bonding. We encourage our patients to actively
participate and spend time in the decision-making, smile design and
understanding the corrective limitations of the procedure to correct tooth
defects, color or position.
The preparation visit takes from one to several hours. Teeth to be prepared for
veneers are lightly reduced to usually about a half a millimeter of the tooth.
An impression (mold) is taken of the teeth and sent to the laboratory for
fabrication of veneers. This can take about one to three weeks. Temporary
veneers are placed during that time.
In certain cases, no preparation is required and veneers are fabricated with a mold of unprepared teeth.
